"Ros's Pedigree" b & d
[756]
Abt. 1753, Joseph lost his first wife, Anna Stedman, and several children, namely, Daniel, Joseph, Elizabeth, and Stephen. Perhaps there was an epidemic at that time or even a house fire! Daughter, Anna Marsh, and her father were the only survivors. Anna later married Eleazer Wright at Mansfield, CT or Hampton, Windham Co., CT. He was the younger brother of Rev. Eliphalet Wright who was married to Hannah Marsh, sister of Joseph. So an aunt/niece married the Wright brothers.

In 1763, Joseph was in Canada Parish (Hampton), Windham County, CT. Later, he threaded his way from Canterbury, Windham Co., CT by marking trees on his way to Worthington, Hampshire Co. MA. He may have moved his family to Worthington, MA, Abt. 1765 and served as a deacon of the Congregational Church there which was established in 1765. Worthington was incorporated in 1768. Here Joseph was a Select-man in 1771, 1772 and 1777; in 1776, he served in the Rev. War. in Capt. Wolcott's Company.
Many of Joseph's sons, namely, Rufus, Thomas, Joseph, and Dr. Wm. Bennet Marsh may have moved to Hinesburg, VT, in the late 1790's or early 1800's. Some of these brothers later settled at Ferrisburg, VT, and Dr. William B. Marsh remained in Hinesburg, VT.
Joseph & Lydia may have had a granddaughter, Cynthia b. Abt. 1792 at Worthington, MA who later m. Nathaniel Townsend. They had a son Randolph Wanton Townsend b. May 4, 1812 at Hancock, Berkshire, MA and d. June 15, 1902. He married Jane A. Warren who was b. at Hoosic, NY.
Joseph and Lydia may also have had a granddaughter, Mary (Polly) Marsh, who married Milo Fuller and lived in Charlotte, VT. She was b. 3/19/1790 and d. 10/3/1852.
Joseph may have had a descendant, Ellen Marsh, whose husband, Herman Morrill, was b. in Hinesburgh, VT, in 1854 and they were m. 1/27/1876 in Monkton, VT. They had a son, Joseph N. Morrill b. 1878 in Monkton. However, I tend to believe Ellen was the dau. of Joseph Marsh & Sybil Goodrich who lived for a time in Monkton.
