When her husband died, Esther was about four months pregnant, with twins Ebenezer and John (who were born 17 August 1705). Esther and her father-in-law Deacon Thomas Bull were appointed administrators of John's estate, and also joint guardians for her three minor sons (twin Ebenezer died 9 November 1705, about 2-1/2 months old). After Deacon Thomas died, Samuel Kellogg was appointed as guardian in his place.
