Research Interests

String theory, black hole physics and gauge theory. Recent work has involved manifestations of the holographic principle in string theory, the physics of Hawking radiation and noncommutative gauge theories. Past work include noncritical string theory and random surfaces, matrix models for nonperturbative strings, W-gravity, large-N gauge theories, vortices and monopoles.
