Housing

The University maintains a variety of apartments on campus for married and single students, all within walking distance of the Chemistry-Physics Building. Most of them are located in four complexes: Cooperstown, Shawneetown, Stadium View and Commonwealth Village. Because rental rates are reasonable, and because the apartments are close to campus, they are always in demand. It is, therefore, desirable to file a housing application as early as possible. Single graduate students often share apartments to minimize expenses. Dormitory rooms and meal plans are also available.

Professor Kumble Subbaswamy

A description of the apartments, the current rate schedule and an application form are available by request from: Apartment Housing, Building C, Cooperstown, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY 40506-0005.

Transportation around campus is available through a free bus service. Lexington's municipal bus system provides inexpensive transportation throughout the city.

Off-campus in Lexington there are many apartments and rooms available in a wide range of prices. Information about them is available in the local newspapers and by writing to: Off-Campus Housing Office, 513 Patterson Office Tower, University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY 40506-0027.
