Spectropolarimetry of the broad emission lines provides a direct means of
probing the structure of the emission line region and the kinematics of the
circum-nuclear material within the unresolved central parsec of AGN. We
describe the basic principals of the method and outline the key polarimetric
features which reveal the presence of rotating disks within the broad line
regions and allow us to study the loss of material in the form of nuclear
winds.
