"An Introduction to Neutron Scattering''
Neutron scattering requires expensive facilities such as the
recently completed Spallation Neutron Source in Oak Ridge, Tennessee,
not too far from the University of Kentucky. In this talk, I will introduce
the technique of neutron scattering and give examples of the unique information
it can provide about the structure and dynamics of materials as diverse as helium,
polystyrene and computer hard drives. The SNS and other US neutron
scattering facilities are open to members of the scientific community
and provide unprecedented research opportunities for university faculty and students.
Refreshments will be served in CP 179 at 3:15 PM |
