"Acoustics of Eastern and Western Bells, Old and New''

Bells are a part of many cultures in the East and the West. When a bell is struck, it vibrates in a complex way that can be described in terms of normal modes of vibration. We describe the modes of vibration and sound radiation from church bells, carillon bells, and handbells and especially studies using holographic interferometry.

Refreshments will be served in CP 179 at 3:15 PM
