PHY 160 - Physics and Astronomy for Teachers

PHY 160 is a special course at the University of Kentucky designed for pre-service elementary and middle school teachers. Only pre-service teachers are allowed to take the course, and the course is required of all pre-service elementary and middle school teachers. GLY 160 is the companion course for PHY 160; the two courses together provide an introduction to the concepts of physical science in a learning environment conducive to developing scientific reasoning.

"It is more important to pave the way for the child to want to know than to put him on a diet of facts he is not ready to assimilate. "
(Rachel Carson, 1956, The Sense of Wonder, p. 45)
