These symposia cover a broad range of currently hot topics like many-body and electron-electron correlation effects in single and multiple ionization processes, or alignment and polarization effects in excitation and charge transfer processes. More than 120 scientists from around the world are expected to come together to discuss the most recent progress on these topics. In each symposium invited talks will be presented, with several joint sessions which cover topics that are interesting for both communities, and further work will be displayed in poster sessions.

Both conferences are satellite meetings to the XXVI International Conference on Photonic, Electronic and Atomic Collisions in Kalamazoo, Michigan, July 22 - 28, 2009.
