Graduate Application Information

DEADLINES for Fall Admissions:

  • Application for admission with financial aid: February 1
  • Application for admission without financial aid: July 19 (domestic applicants) or February 1 (international applicants)


How to apply:

1. Follow application procedure at the UK Graduate School web site. This application requires official Transcripts and official GRE results (and official TOEFL if required). NOTE: The Department of Physics and Astronomy will pay the application fee required by the graduate school for DOMESTIC APPLICANTS if the Physics & Astronomy online application form is completed. INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS will have to pay the graduate school fee, either when they initially apply to the graduate school, or when we make them an offer.

2. Fill out the Department of Physics & Astronomy online application form. There is no fee associated with this form. (It is ok to accept the self-signed web certificate. In IE7 click on "Continue to this Website".).

3. Send COPIES (unofficial or photocopies are fine) of all your undergraduate and graduate transcripts, your GRE results (including subject if you have taken it) and TOEFL (if applicable) to the address below. Or you may email legible scanned versions of the originals to .

4. Arrange for three recomendation letters to be sent to the address below. Forms for these are available in three formats at form.html, form1.pdf, or form.ps.

5. Send a personal statement of career aims, research interests, etc. to the address below. Or you may email a file (in a standard format such as pdf or .doc) to .
