As a Physics Major, you will
develop a set of universally applicable analytic and problem-solving
skills, and gain a scientific perspective on the world around you. While
you learn about how the universe works, you will also be learning how
to formulate scientific questions and how to develop rigorous and quantitative
approaches to answering them.
The skills you gain as a
Physics Major can provide a foundation for a variety of careers, in
fields such as applied physics, medical science, and information technology.
These skills are valued even in non-science fields such as law and business.
Many of our graduates also continue their formal education in Physics
and Astronomy, often in top-level graduate programs. To
find out what UK Physics and Astronomy majors have gone on to do, see
the lists of Recent Graduates and Alumni.
The American
Institute of Physics maintains several databases with information
about careers for physics degree holders.
The Society of Physics Students
also maintains a website on careers
using physics.
