Yes, there IS a recitation on Tuesday, November 24.  [23 Nov 2009]

The online course evaluation is now open and will remain so until Dec. 9, 2009.  Please take a few minutes to evaluate PHY 231.  To start,  go to the departmental home page and) click on Online Course Evaluation.   [17 Nov 2009]

The third midterm exam will be in class in CP 155 on Wednesday,  December 2, 2009 at your regularly scheduled lecture time.  It will cover lectures #26-35 inclusive, homework sets #9-11 inclusive, and textbook chapters #10, 11, and 13.  There is a practice exam with answers available.  Your midterm exam will have a slightly different format with two long problems and eight multiple-choice questions.  Your midterm exam will be CLOSED BOOK; however, I will provide five formula sheets with the exam, which are included as part of the practice exam.   [17 Nov 2009]

Homework set #11 is due on Monday, November 30.  Yet it covers material (on gravity) that we'll finish with in the lecture on November 20 and in recitation on November 24.  I suggest you finish the homework done sooner than later, so that you can concentrate on studying for the third midterm exam which is on Wednesday, December 2.   [17 Nov 2009]
