These are the designs for the vacuum system throughout our polarimeter. Keep checking back because these designs will probably change.

Dipole Vacuum Design

During December/January, we assembled our original dipole vacuum system design, and finally got it to hold vacuum on 1/14/97! It held down to about 2.0 x 10-4. Yeah!! We ended up having to change the O-rings from 3.5mm diameter to 4.5mm. We were also a lot more careful on trying to get the maximum compression possible. It worked!

Shortly after we succeeded with that design, we decided to go with a vacuum box design. This has now been constructed, and was inserted into the dipole during the week of 4/21-4/25 at TJNAF. It has been vacuum tested and seems to hold vacuum sufficiently.
