a. (15 points)
Calculate the translational and rotational speeds of a disc (radius
30cm and mass 2kg), that rolls without slipping down a 30.0o
incline that is 5.0m long, when it reaches the bottom. Assume it started
from rest. Moment of inertia of a disc is given as I = ½MR2
where M and R are the mass and radius of the disc respectively.
b. (10 points)
Calculate the angular acceleration and hence the time it takes to roll
down the incline. (Hint: use the kinematics equations.)
