We offer a series of physical science courses, delivered in a distance learning format. Its elements are a kit of equipment, a manual of activities, a website or CD to provide instruction, and the use of email to communicate with the instructors.

Costs: Groups of 4th-8th grade teachers taking Temperature & Heat may qualify as part of our grant pilot study. Training and materials are free for groups selected for that study, supported by the Fund for the Improvement of PostSecondary Education.

The participation cost is $200 per group (1 to 3 teachers). This includes all materials and on-line instruction for the group. Graduate credit from the University of Kentucky costs $403/credit hour (for fall semester 2007, for anyone in the US) + $75 for the materials.

What does this have to do with the No Child Left Behind Act and the National Curriculum Standards? See this page

More than 100 groups have completed one of the Virtual Workshops.
Here is a Map of their locations and what they had to say about the courses

In the virtual workshop model, the emphasis is on learning
through hands-on activities. Small groups of teachers work on their
own schedule at their own site, and use email for contact with the instructor
