COMPOSITION OF THE EARTH'S CRUST

Igneous Rocks

Cooled from a molten state. Example: granite, rhyolite, gabbro, basalt

Sedimentary Rocks

Fragments of igneous rocks or of living organisms: eroded by work of wind, water and temperature changes

Metamorphic Rocks

From igneous and sedimentary rocks: after being subjected to high temperature and pressure. Example: marble

Primitive Rocks: not found on Earth!

The original material of the Solar System: was never subjected to high temperatures and pressure, found in the interplanetary space as a relic
