UK SPS Open Lab Day

On April, 8th 2011 UK SPS will host an open lab day for physics students from around the area to show students what facilities are available at UK and promote a sense of community between physics students in the region. To begin the day the UK Physics Department will provide a lunch while short talks are given on graduate school and theoretical physics topics of interest. Tours and demonstrations of the laboratory facilities on campus will be given, spanning such fields as Condensed Matter Physics, High Energy Physics, and Atomic Physics. Students will then attend the departmental colloquium given by Brian Yanny of Fermilab. Afterward the colloquium the group will dine together in Lexington. After dinner students will return to UK to tour MacAdam Observatory. Saturday will include social events such as a trip to Keeneland based on level of interest recieved.
