RMC Spectrometer Acceptance

The RMC spectrometer's response function was simulated using a Monte Carlo program (30). The program incorporated the detailed geometry of the RMC detector (Figure 3.3) and the detailed interactions of the relevant particles. This Monte Carlo program was based on the CERN GEANT3 package (23) and is described in Wright et al. (26). The simulation was tested by comparing with the response function measurements using photon-pairs from random coincident multi-$\pi$ events and two-photon decays of at-rest $\pi ^o$ from the $\pi^- p \rightarrow \pi^o n$.
