There are many different kinds of magnets, and many ways to put them in combinations.
Each will have its own distinctive magnetic field map. For example
One of the round magnets, standing on edge (not lying flat)
Two bar magnets that have been allowed to stick together
end-to-end
Two bar magnets that have been allowed to stick together side
by side
Two bar magnets taped together the wrong way -- so that they
would fly apart if the tape were not there.
Make the field map for some of these --
enough that you begin to see the general features that these maps have, so that you
could predict what the map would look like for other combinations of magnets.
