Access to the Internet

To send us email or look at the remote web pages you need to be connected to the network. How this is done depends on your site -- it may involve having the computer call a telephone number, for example.

At the bottom of every page there are two links that say "Question board" and "email." As you work through our activities, you will think of other questions that could be explored, and you will make discoveries that you didn't expect or even don't quite understand. The Question Board is a place to share these with us and other teachers. It is like a bulletin board, in that you can put a message on it. Click on "Question board" below and see what kinds of things are already posted. We hope you will find something to tell us about in this way -- that way, we will know you are all happy and busy and learning things, and we be able to prove it to anyone who cares.

Clicking on "email" at the bottom of the page should initiate a message to us, which you can fill in and send. We would like to hear from you now -- tell us who you are, who you are working with, and give us mailing addresses and telephone numbers. We would like to know your plans, too: will you be working through the activities full time over the next week or so, or on a regular schedule ("every Tuesday afternoon") over a longer period of time, or what? Please do this now.

If clicking on "email" didn't work, the reason may be that you already are using a different email program, and that the mailer built into Internet Explorer or Netscape has never been set up. As long as you have a way to email us, this is no big deal -- you will just have to do it your usual way instead of taking this short cut. The email address is sciworks@pa.uky.edu (also for sending things to the Question Board); please try your usual email method if clicking below didn't work.

We expect to receive email from you from time to time -- whenever you finish a section, for sure, or at any time when you have a question. Email has the advantage that we will get the message even if we are out of our office at the moment, and gives us a chance to produce a clear organized answer that's written down; but if email is a hassle for you, use the telephone.

If you encountered problems and there is no one at your site who can help, email us at sciworks@pa.uky.edu or give us a call (859) 257-5131.
