``New Aspects of Superconductivity and Magnetism Appearing Under Hydrostatic Pressure''

Unconventional superconductivity, metal-insulator transitions, itinerant and localized moment magnetism are notorious characteristic features of contemporary electronic materials. Using pressure P as an external parameter allows to influence the balance between competing states and tune the phase transitions of interest. In this talk I will discuss the effects of pressure on superconducting and magnetic properties of strongly anisotropic, two-dimensional electron systems, such as layered sodium cobalt oxides Na0.35CoO21.4 H2O and Na0.75CoO2, bi-layer and triple-layer ruthenium oxide perovskites Sr3Ru2O7 and Sr4Ru3O10, and organic charge-transfer salts (BEDT-TTF)2Cu[N(CN)2]X (X = Cl, Br).

Refreshments will be served in CP 155 at 3:15 PM
