Welcome to our virtual workshop on electricity and
magnetism!
We will be presenting information two ways.
Pages of words. If you can read this, everything is OK!
However, you can make the page easier to read -- if it doesn't fill
the whole screen, expand the window by clicking on the open square
in the upper right hand corner; if the print is too tiny, you can
reset it (click the word View near top left, and then Fonts).
Pictures. If you see a picture of us above, this is working.
If these features worked, there is a lot we can do together. We
assume you know how to use Netscape or Internet Explorer. Here are
the important features:
If you click on the underlined
words, you go to another page (these underlined parts are called
"links"); click on the "Back" button on the top left to move back
to a page you have recently visited. We will have a link to the
table of contents at the bottom of every page, in case you get
lost.
The pages can be viewed in a "framed" or "no-frames" format.
The framed version has a band down the left edge of the screen
reserved for another navigation tool -- a clickable table of
contents -- which is sometimes useful; however, this ties up some
of your screen and the no-frames version may be preferable,
especially if you have a small monitor. You can choose which
version you want on the table of contents page, or by clicking one
of these:
To help you keep track of where you are, there is a checklist.
Some pages have a box somewhere on them; if you click on the box
the corresponding box in the Table of Contents will
become checked , and your computer will remember that you
have checked the box. You can "uncheck" a section by clicking it
again. You could also use the Bookmark feature of Netscape, or
Favorites feature of Internet Explorer, to keep track of where you
are.
Occasionally it might be convenient to print out a page. Try
clicking on File (upper left-hand corner), followed by Print, to
see if you can make a copy of this page.
Here and there you are encouraged to email us. Clicking on this link
should start your email program, and fill in the address
automatically. However, sometimes this does not work, or causes the
wrong email program to be started. If the email link does not work
for you, send the messages the way you are used to, to
sciworks@pa.uky.edu (or reply a message from us!).
If you encountered problems and there is no one at your site who
can help, email us (the
email address is sciworks@pa.uky.edu , but clicking on the link
should start the mailer automatically) or give us a call (859)
257-5131. Hit the "back" button, to return to the previous page.
