Celsius and Fahrenheit

There are several different temperature scales, of which two are well known: Fahrenheit, which is generally used in the US, and Celsius (or Centigrade), which is used everywhere else in the world, and generally in scientific work.

How are these scales related? Find out for yourself! Notice that 0 o C is the same as 32oF. How are the two scales related at other temperatures? Look for a rule that relates the values on one side to the values on the other (one way to proceed is to draw a graph ).

Does your rule also work for negative temperatures?

According to your rule, is there a temperature such that the Celsius reading is the same as the Fahrenheit reading?

Write in your journal Whenever you are instructed to "do an activity" throughout this workshop, please write up the activity in your journals.  We will ask to see your journals at the end of the course.
