Force and Energy

The hammer's energy will give rise to a force on the nail Force and energy are distinct concepts, but closely related. Once we understand what each term means and what they imply, we will find that there are physical situations that are easy to explain in terms of the forces that are acting (but harder to explain in terms of energy), and there are situations that are easy to explain in terms of the transfers of energy that are taking place (but harder to explain in terms of forces). So we shall develop the two concepts at the same time.
